10 Best Directors of 2014

10 Best Directors of 2014

This is the third post of Me On The Movie's 2014 Movie Recap and in this post we celebrate 10 best directors of 2014. In two earlier posts I listed 20 best movie characters of 2014 and 20 best acting performances of 2014, go take a look if you haven't seen them!

Compared to my list of best acting performances of 2014 which I considered a bit non-mainstream, my list of 10 best directors of 2014 contains well-known directors who have been mentioned many times in movie awards. I think they deserve my mention because of their hard work for their films, although their positions in this list will not have anything to do with the possibilities of the films they worked on to be listed in my next 20 best films of the year.

We start by mentioning five directors who almost made the list!

Almost made the list (in alphabetical order):
Richard Ayoade (The Double)
Dan Gilroy (Nightcrawler)
Jennifer Kent (The Babadook)
Hirokazu Koreeda (Like Father, Like Son)
Christopher Nolan (Interstellar)

The top ten:

Paul Thomas Anderson (Inherent Vice)

Jean-Pierre Dardenne & Luc Dardenne (Two Days, One Night)

Damien Chazelle (Whiplash)

Bennett Miller (Foxcatcher)

Ava DuVernay (Selma)

Nuri Bilge Ceylan (Winter Sleep)

Wes Anderson (The Grand Budapest Hotel)

Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu (Birdman)

David Fincher (Gone Girl)

...and the number one director of 2014 is...

Richard Linklater (Boyhood)

Next, finally, my selection of 20 best films of 2014!

Don't forget to leave comments, readers! Thanks.
